Description

What is Glutamine?

Glutamine belongs to those Amino Acids in the body that are present in the greatest quantities. This is due to the importance of Glutamine for rapidly dividing cells, such as stem cells. Glutamine serves as the ultimate energy source, since Glutamine serves both as fuel and as building material for cells. Particularly significant in this context is Glutamine for immune cells, but also for, for example, mucous membrane cells of the intestine. A high Glutamine requirement thus arises during infections, during sport or other high physical exertion. At the same time, Glutamine plays an important role in building and maintaining skeletal muscle, especially in nutritionally critical situations.

We obtain Glutamine mainly in the form of Glutamic Acid from food. This exists in the body in dissociated form as a salt, Glutamate. Via Glutamine Synthetase, which essentially serves to detoxify ammonia in the body, Glutamate (Glutamic Acid) reacts to form Glutamine.

Glutamine Capsules from the PURE Range

Our Glutamine Capsules contain exclusively free L-Glutamine. It can be stirred into drinks, for example. We refrain from using Glutamine Peptides. For some time it was thought that Peptides had a better effect on muscle, since Glutamine as a free Amino Acid is quickly metabolised by, for example, intestinal cells. This is no longer tenable nowadays. An abundant Glutamine supply will also provide good nourishment to the muscle. Plus: Glutamine Peptides are conventionally obtained from hydrolysed Wheat Protein, which we decidedly reject, since Wheat Peptides are definitely not healthy.
