Description

What is the Gut Flora Complex?

Gut flora, also called gut microbiota, describes the totality of microorganisms that inhabit our intestines and therefore play a crucial role in our health.

A healthy gut flora is not only dependent on which bacteria inhabit the intestines, but also on how these bacteria are fed. Just like us, gut bacteria also need food to thrive and fulfil their important tasks.

Dietary fibre, also called prebiotics, are indigestible food components that perform exactly this function: they serve the good gut inhabitants as valuable food. Among the various types of dietary fibre, there are true superfoods for our gut bacteria – resistant starches. A particularly effective and well-tolerated form of these resistant starches is resistant dextrin.

It serves as an excellent energy source for our gut flora and supports the formation of short-chain fatty acids. These special fatty acids act in our cells like a metabolic booster, strengthen the gut barrier, modulate the immune system and even influence the so-called gut-brain axis, which is increasingly becoming an important field of research.

The Gut Flora Complex contains a mixture of valuable microorganisms that naturally inhabit our intestines, and the ideal "food" that resistant dextrin is as explained.

These are the benefits of the Gut Flora Complex

With our Gut Flora Complex, you receive per serving (3 g) not only 2.7 g of dietary fibre in the form of resistant dextrin, but also seven microbes with a dose of 2 billion colony-forming units (CFU).

The following strains are contained in the powder:

  • Lactobacillus reuteri: Known for its ability to produce antimicrobial substances such as reuterin, this strain supports gut health, strengthens the gut barrier and has an anti-inflammatory effect – also in the mouth.

  • Bifidobacterium adolescentis: A key strain for supporting carbohydrate metabolism and reducing inflammation in the intestines.

  • Streptococcus thermophilus: Promotes lactose digestion and strengthens the immune system, whilst inhibiting the growth of harmful bacteria.

  • Bifidobacterium lactis: Supports immune function, strengthens the gut barrier and can alleviate digestive discomfort.

  • Bifidobacterium longum: Known for its role in alleviating irritable bowel syndrome symptoms and promoting healthy gut flora.

  • Bifidobacterium infantis: An important bacterial strain for the development of the immune system and digestion in infants.

  • Lactobacillus plantarum: A versatile strain with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that supports gut health.

With this combination you cover a considerable part of the natural microbial intake, which is ideally supplemented by the intake of fermented foods such as kefir, yoghurt, unpasteurised sauerkraut or kimchi.

What makes our Gut Flora Complex special?

The Gut Flora Complex is available as a highly soluble, mildly sweet-tasting powder that can be stirred into almost any food and drink.

Through intake or use, two birds are killed with one stone: both probiotics and prebiotics are supplied, so that the microorganisms contained in the powder are directly fed and can form valuable short-chain fatty acids, amongst other things.

The additionally used biotin (Vitamin B7) supports the normal function of mucous membranes (also those of the intestinal mucous membrane) and the function of carbohydrate and energy metabolism, which ideally complements the ingredients and optimises the effect.

Of course, the product is vegan in composition.

NEW: Now with strain B. adolescentis

We became aware of B. adolescentis through a new clinical human study (RCT) that was published in the renowned specialist journal Nature, in which this bacterium was identified as an important regulator of body weight (Li et al. 2024).

Bifidobacterium adolescentis is an anaerobic bacterial species found in the gastrointestinal tract of humans and other primates – as the name suggests, primarily in adults ("adolescentis") – and is the most common Bifidobacterium species there.

Currently, research into B. adolescentis is intensifying. In studies, the bacterium has been associated with a variety of positive health outcomes.

B. adolescentis strains are particularly interesting due to their ability to metabolise prebiotics such as arabinoxylan, XOS and GOS. In doing so, they produce acetic acid (a short-chain fatty acid) and lactic acid (lactate). The production of short-chain fatty acids and lactic acid in the intestines is associated with positive health effects.

Some strains of B. adolescentis promote the production of GABA, a neurotransmitter that reduces stress and anxiety, and synthesise B vitamins such as folic acid. Furthermore, the presence of certain strains can promote the growth of other Bifidobacteria.
