Description
What is piperine?
Pepper has traditionally been used for a long time as a versatile spice and has served not only the function of improving the flavour of dishes. It was used to extend the shelf life of food, but was also considered to aid digestion, warm and anti-inflammatory.
Piperine is a main ingredient in pepper and the reason for the sharp taste of the spice. In modern studies, the diverse health-promoting effects of pepper have also been confirmed for piperine.
These are the benefits of piperine
The most well-known effect of piperine is the ability as a bioenhancer to increase the bioavailability of other nutrients. An often-used combination is the addition of piperine or pepper to turmeric dietary supplements. Piperine supports the absorption of the turmeric active ingredient curcumin.
Studies also showed increased vitamin, Q10 and beta-carotene absorption through piperine. (Badmaev et al., 2000)
The reason for better bioavailability is a combination of faster absorption and slower elimination of the substances. Through piperine, a substance like curcumin can thus be very quickly absorbed through the intestinal barrier, since piperine increases the permeability of the intestinal barrier. (Khajuria et al., 2002) Furthermore, piperine inhibits various degradation enzymes in the liver and intestine. This allows the active ingredients to remain longer in the body and can achieve stronger effects. (Singh et al., 1986) Piperine can further inhibit efflux transporters. These have the task of transporting substances like drugs out of the cells. Through piperine, their activity is reduced and the active ingredients can remain longer in the cells and work. (Chavarria et al., 2016)
Apart from its bioenhancer function, piperine had the following effects in animal studies:
-
Reduction of blood pressure (Taqvi et al., 2008)
-
Antidepressive effect. (Wattanathorn et al., 2008)
-
Suppression of body fat accumulation from very high-fat diet (Okumura et al., 2010)
What distinguishes the piperine capsules?
The edubily piperine capsules are simple to use and can be taken as a universal bioenhancer with all dietary supplements to increase the absorption rate of ingredients.
For our piperine capsules, we use BioPerine®, which can increase the absorption of nutrients by at least 30%.
Unlike black pepper, pure BioPerine® works directly and thus offers a great advantage in absorption.
Naturally, the product is vegan in its composition.

The data obtained in this way suggest that piperine is very quickly absorbed through the intestinal barrier. It can act as a nonpolar molecule and form nonpolar complexes with drugs and dissolved substances. It can modulate membrane dynamics due to its easy distributability and thus contribute to efficient permeability through the barrier. PMID: 9536651
