Description

What is Whey Protein Concentrate?

Whey Protein is a milk protein derived from whey. Alongside casein, it is one of the main components of milk protein and is obtained during cheese production. Whey Protein concentrates contain up to 80% protein.

Unlike casein, whey protein is optimally water-soluble and is digested quickly by the body, meaning the amino acids it contains become available to the body rapidly. That is why it is often referred to as 'fast protein'.

Thanks to its excellent amino acid profile, Whey Protein is considered one of the best protein sources with a very high biological value. It is produced using a particularly gentle cold ultrafiltration process, which ensures that the valuable amino acids are preserved as much as possible. Essential amino acids cannot be synthesised by the body and must therefore be obtained through food. The more essential amino acids a protein contains, the higher its biological value and the more valuable it is to the body. Our Whey Protein Concentrate contains a very high proportion of essential amino acids and thus represents an optimal protein source.

Whey Protein concentrates undergo fewer processing steps than Whey Protein isolates. Whilst the isolate undergoes additional filtering to remove almost all fats and lactose, the concentrate retains its natural form. This makes it not only more cost-effective but also more environmentally friendly, as fewer resources are required for production. However, due to its higher lactose content, it is not suitable for people with severe lactose intolerance.

Protein plays an important role in many bodily processes and is essential for numerous functions. The following health claims are officially approved for proteins:

  • Protein contributes to an increase in muscle mass

  • Protein contributes to the maintenance of muscle mass

  • Protein contributes to the maintenance of normal bones

  • Protein is needed for normal growth and bone development in children.

According to the International Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA), the daily minimum protein requirement is 0.8 g/kg body weight. However, individual requirements may vary depending on lifestyle and state of health. The European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (ESPEN) recommends a protein intake of 1.0–1.2 g/kg body weight for adults aged 65 and over.

Individual requirements can, however, increase due to factors such as physical activity, age, injuries or certain diseases (Q).

The Benefits of Whey Protein Concentrate

Since it requires fewer filtration steps in production than Whey Protein isolate or hydrolysate, Whey Protein Concentrate is the most cost-effective of the three variants. Our Whey Protein Concentrate therefore offers a cost-effective way to meet your daily protein requirements without compromising on the highest quality that edubily is known for.

What Sets Our Whey Protein Concentrate Apart?

Our Whey Protein Concentrate is a high-quality, natural protein source derived from certified organic milk. Thanks to its high biological value, it is ideal for athletes, health-conscious people or anyone looking to optimise their daily protein intake. Furthermore, we do not use artificial additives and instead use Stevia as a natural sweetener in our flavour variants to support the good tolerability of our product.
