Description
Why is Magnesium so valuable?
Scientists suspect that half of all people in Western nations are insufficiently supplied with magnesium. The National Consumption Study II (2008) draws similar conclusions and calculates that 40% of people in Germany do not reach the recommended 400 mg of magnesium per day.
This is serious, given that magnesium is involved as a cofactor in 500 enzymatic reactions in almost all important biochemical reactions of the body. For example, magnesium influences energy generation and storage within cells, regulates numerous enzymes in vitamin D metabolism, and as a physiological calcium antagonist, relaxes smooth muscle – and thereby lowers, for example, vascular tone.
Often magnesium binds to the universal energy carrier ATP and makes it available to many enzymes that need ATP to function, such as kinases, aminopeptidases, nucleotidases, pyruvate oxidases, phosphatases, glutaminases and carboxypeptidases. Magnesium is also a component of DNA polymerases, which are involved in both DNA replication and repair.
The following health claims are approved for magnesium – magnesium...:
- contributes to the reduction of tiredness and exhaustion
- contributes to electrolyte balance
- contributes to normal energy metabolism
- contributes to normal nervous system function
- contributes to normal muscle function
- contributes to normal protein synthesis
- contributes to normal mental function
- contributes to the maintenance of normal bone structure
- contributes to the maintenance of normal teeth
- plays a role in the cell division process
Magnesium Capsules: Magnesium Complex by edubily®
As with many other products, we also use a special blend of compounds in our magnesium capsules that has delighted many edubily customers for many years and helps to quickly and easily set the desired magnesium levels.
The development was based on both many years of personal experience with magnesium compounds and scientific knowledge about the effects of various compounds. We use a 2:1:1 blend of magnesium glycinate, trimagnesium citrate and magnesium carbonate in our magnesium capsules.
All three forms are metabolised differently and supply the body with magnesium via different routes and sustainably:
-
Magnesium Glycinate – magnesium bound to the amino acid glycine – very likely enters the body via the amino acid transporter in the intestine. This ensures incredible tolerability, even at higher doses. And it prevents possible interactions with other micronutrients or food components.
-
Trimagnesium Citrate is one of the best-known magnesium forms – here magnesium is present as a salt, bound to citrates. It shows outstanding bioavailability and flows very quickly into the bloodstream. People often notice this through a "pleasant relaxation" after taking magnesium citrate.
- Finally, the product contains inorganic magnesium carbonate. Once maligned, it is increasingly appreciated as "slow magnesium", which supplies the body with magnesium in a very well-tolerated and long-lasting manner. In addition, the compound provides carbonate, which acts as a natural acid buffer in the body.
We also add small amounts of vitamin B6 to our magnesium capsules, as there is evidence that B6 can improve magnesium uptake and retention.
