Description
What is Vitamin D?
Vitamin D is nowadays part of almost every home medicine cabinet. That's good, because in winter up to 80 % of people are sub-optimally supplied with the sunshine vitamin (Rabenberg et al. 2015). This should be evaluated against the background that Vitamin D is converted in the body to a hormone called Calcitriol, which regulates an estimated 1000 genes and thus has an incredibly far-reaching effect in the body. It is known, for example, that Vitamin D in this way regulates the immune system, has important functions in bone metabolism and regulates enzymes in the nervous system (e.g. Tryptophan-Hydroxylase).
A Vitamin D deficiency can easily be remedied with Vitamin D supplements. We offer various Vitamin D forms. Additionally, this product contains Vitamin K2-MK7. According to some publications, Vitamin D increases the requirement for Vitamin K, since it naturally increases the formation of these Vitamin K-dependent proteins (e.g. Osteocalcin). The following Health Claims are approved for Vitamin D & Vitamin K:
- Vitamin K contributes to normal blood clotting
- Vitamin K contributes to the maintenance of normal bones
- Vitamin D contributes to the normal absorption/utilisation of calcium and phosphorus
- Vitamin D contributes to a normal calcium level in the blood
- Vitamin D contributes to the maintenance of normal bone structure
- Vitamin D contributes to the maintenance of normal muscle function
- Vitamin D contributes to the maintenance of normal teeth
- Vitamin D contributes to normal immune system function
- Vitamin D plays a role in the process of cell division
- Vitamin D contributes to the reduction of the risk of falling associated with postural instability and muscle weakness. Falls are a risk factor for bone fractures in men and women aged 60 years and over.
- Vitamin D is required for the normal growth and development of bones in children.
- Vitamin D contributes to normal immune system function in children.
