Description
What is Omega-3?
Omega-3 fatty acids are essential fatty acids for children's development and must be obtained through diet.
Omega-3 fatty acids include:
-
Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA)
-
Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA)
-
Alpha-Linolenic Acid (ALA)
-
Stearidonic Acid (SDA)
Whilst ALA can be converted in the body to DHA and EPA, this only occurs in very small amounts. Direct supply of DHA and EPA is therefore always necessary.
SDA can also be converted to EPA. This conversion is more efficient than the conversion of ALA to EPA.
The Benefits of Omega-3?
DHA plays a crucial role in the healthy development of vision and brain. Since oily fish rarely features on most children's menus, inadequate intake is common. During the growth phase in particular, optimal supply is essential to best support cognitive and visual abilities.
The most important functions of Omega-3 fatty acids in the body include:
-
DHA contributes to the maintenance of normal brain function.
-
DHA contributes to the maintenance of normal vision.
-
DHA and EPA contribute to normal heart function.
-
As an essential fatty acid, ALA promotes normal growth and normal development in children. It also supports the production of anti-inflammatory eicosanoids.

What Sets Our Vitasauri® Omega-3 Apart?
Vitasauri® Kids Omega-3 has been specially developed for children and is therefore precisely tailored to their needs. The oil is derived not only from marine microalgae but also from Ahiflower®. For this, the harvested Ahiflower® seeds are minimally processed, filtered and refined at low temperature to obtain a very light, pure oil. No chemical solvents are used in the refining process.
The special combination of the two Omega-3 sources results in the following composition of the oil:
1 ml of oil contains:
-
26 mg Gamma-Linolenic Acid
-
666 mg Omega-3 Fatty Acids:
-
370 mg Alpha-Linolenic Acid (ALA)
-
200 mg Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA)
-
94 mg Stearidonic Acid (SDA)
Ahiflower® thus provides valuable DHA as well as a good supply of anti-inflammatory ALA and SDA, which can be efficiently converted to EPA in the body (Q).
